The letter, “Private sector unions needed, but public ones problematic,” displays a lack of understanding of the role public employee unions play in the modern era.
Teachers are the advocates, the voices, for the students in our classrooms and the Illinois Education Association has always been the voice of the teachers.
The union focuses on making sure our schools maintain high quality teaching and learning conditions, including manageable class sizes that allow teachers to give each student more individualized attention.
