This fall, Ohio lawmakers are taking up unemployment compensation insurance reform.
Like all insurance programs, workers and employers pay into this insurance policy. That means when a worker loses their job, they can receive an unemployment insurance check until they get back on their feet.
Some lawmakers want to attack unemployed workers with House Bill 394. HB 394 would reduce the number of workers who can receive benefits and the number of weeks they’re eligible. And they want to do this by giving businesses a huge tax break.
Tell lawmakers not to attack workers on the unemployment line!
You can help.
Contact the members of the Joint Committee on Unemployment Compensation Reform. Tell them to kill HB 394 and don’t rob workers of their unemployment compensation insurance benefits.
Lawmakers should take public input during hearings so next General Assembly they can come back with a bill that’s fair to workers and businesses.
