The anti-worker, anti-union bogus Buckeye Institute, a phony think tank funded by out-of-state billionaires, is already stirring the pot following the election on Tuesday.
To give you a flavor of this “think tank’s” agenda: it would like to do away with collective bargaining rights, prevailing wage laws, project labor agreements and other pro-labor ideas that give workers a voice on the job.
And now they are upset that Ohioans elected people to public office that aren’t willing to attack working families or unions.
So the Buckeye Institute is now calling on lawmakers in lame duck to strip the newly elected governor, Amy Acton, of a number of her executive powers.
We don’t take sides here at We Are Ohio in elections, and we also don’t question the will of the people of this state.
They have spoken, and it is clear they want their elected representatives in Columbus to set politics aside and get the job done.
Instead of respecting the basic concept of checks and balances in our democracy, the bogus Buckeye Institute wants to rig the game.
Don’t mistake their intentions: they do not respect the will of the voters of this state.
Here’s the problem. They want lawmakers to start a fight before the new governor is even sworn into office.
We have a chance in Columbus to set aside partisanship, politics, and actually focus on what the best policies are to move this state forward for the people who deserve a government that works for them.
The Buckeye Institute is only interested in advancing its anti-worker, anti-labor, anti-union agenda.
So here’s some advice to lame duck lawmakers. Step back. Take a deep breath. And don’t follow bum advice from bad actors. Ohioans deserve better.
In solidarity,
We Are Ohio
