A year ago, voters turned out for a “surprise” Special Election designed to take away one of our most fundamental rights: the ability to change our Ohio Constitution with a simple 50+1 majority vote.

Extremists like Frank LaRose and State Rep. Brian Stewart lied to voters and said their plan to raise the threshold to 60 percent was designed to stop out-of-state money from unduly influencing Ohio ballot initiatives. Hypocrisy alert: their hair-brained plan was bought and paid for by an Illinois billionaire.

You saw through their lies and voted overwhelmingly to reject their scheme and protect one person, one vote.

Well, they’re back.

LaRose, Stewart and extreme out-of-touch lawmakers like Senate President Matt Huffman are scared once again that voters like you will take their power away by voting this November to put citizens, not politicians, in charge of drawing fair legislative and congressional maps for fair elections.

Last week, Gov. Mike DeWine once again sullied his legacy by holding a press conference to try to pull the old political switcheroo by promising to adopt a new plan to draw maps if voters would reject the Citizens Not Politicians ballot amendment in November.

Hmmmm. Isn’t this the same DeWine who went along with extreme lawmakers and ignored orders from the Ohio Supreme Court to draw fair maps so they could pick their voters with gerrymandered districts and seal their power instead of letting voters choose their elected officials?

Can you trust Mike DeWine, Frank LaRose, Brian Stewart, Matt Huffman? How far can you throw them?

Remember a year ago, you saw through their lies. They’re lying again. They will do and say anything to keep their power.
