It’s summer and typically lawmakers go home so taxpayers are generally a little safer.
Not this year.
House Speaker Matt Huffman called lawmakers back to Columbus after the Fourth to try to override three budget vetoes.
Those vetoes protected people like you in communities all across the state from having to pay more local taxes.
Those vetoes made sure there were no cuts in local public service jobs ranging from firefighters to teachers to nurses to safety officers and so on.
Huffman got one of his wishes when lawmakers voted to override one of the vetoes, but Huffman said he would work to overturn the other two vetoes later in the year.
You are one of the reasons Huffman’s fellow lawmakers hesitated.
We asked and you answered the call, sending more than 2,000 emails to your local state lawmakers asking them to not overreach and not override.
The veto override now is in the Ohio Senate and your state senator needs to hear from you.
Tell them: Don’t Overreach. Don’t Override.
It’s simple. Click here to send your Senator an email.
Sincerely,
We Are Ohio
